This is AIRTEC Motorsport Secondary Intercooler Kit for Focus ST Mk4

Designed and developed at AIRTEC HQ in the UK, the AIRTEC Motorsport Secondary Intercooler Kit is a track or fast road upgrade for the Mk4 Focus ST. This kit offers a solution to improve cooling and reduce charge temperatures without the need for cutting or modifying the car.

The challenge: Due to limited space in the upper grille area, it is not possible to fit a full-size front mount intercooler. However, AIRTEC Motorsport has developed a secondary intercooler that mounts underneath the car behind the undertray and is fed fresh air from a duct.

The solution: By adding a second intercooler in place of the pipework section, the overall capacity of the intercooler setup is significantly increased without affecting the original or AIRTEC Motorsport upgraded intercooler setup. Despite this improvement, the kit fits neatly behind the undertray and can be reverted back to standard with no issues. The comprehensive fitting kit includes Pro Hoses silicone pipes, fixtures, fittings, and step-by-step instructions.

The testing: Back-to-back testing on the road over eight consecutive runs showed that with the secondary intercooler in place, heat rejection was improved by 41% and charge temperatures were reduced by half, proving the effectiveness and efficiency of the setup.
