The Eventuri Lotus Emira intake system consists of a number of components engineered to perform a specific purpose and fabricated to the highest of standards. We use 100% pre-preg carbon fiber with no fibreglass which means we can achieve a smooth internal surface to maintain smoother airflow. Here are the details for each component and the design ethos behind them:
Each intake system consists of:
- Carbon Fiber Patented Venturi Filter Housing
- Bespoke High Flow Dry Cone Filter
- Carbon Fiber Air Duct
- EPDM Flexible Hose
- Stainless Steel Bracket Work
- CNC Machined Hardware
FILTER HOUSING ASSEMBLY
The filter housing comprises of our bespoke generation 2 filter, aluminium inlet cowl and stainless steel bracket. The carbon pod shrouds the reverse mounted filter and smoothly shapes the airflow down to the OEM turbo inlets. This changes the flow path from the OEM airbox where airflow enters the base of the airbox and has to contend with the 90 degree corners, where stagnation areas will arise. Our system is a lot more direct with airflow entering the front of the filter housing and and moving into the MAF tube section without any abrupt direction changes. The result is a smoother path from the filter to the supercharger and therefore it is able to function with less drag.
BESPOKE CONE FILTER
In order to achieve the highest flow rate possible we are using a filter element to make as much use of the space available in the engine bay as possible. The filter medium is ISO tested to ensure that filtration is in line with OEM standards and is also dry. The filter is constructed with our signature flow cones to aid in the Venturi housing principle.
PATENTED TECHNOLOGY
Our patented filter housing has a smooth reduction in cross sectional area as it shrouds the filter and tapers down to the tubing. This geometry invokes the Venturi effect where the airflow accelerates whilst maintaining laminar conditions. It can be thought of as a large velocity stack - below is a diagram to show the comparison between our patented design and a regular intake system. Our bespoke filters aid the airflow moving through the housings and allow for an even velocity profile as the airflow exits the housings. Further details can be read in the Technology and Filters pages.
CARBON DUCT
The filter housing is sealed to our carbon air duct which locates into the OEM cold air feed behind the rear wing. This is an excellent air feed since it is very direct and by sealing the duct to our filter housing we ensure inlet air temperatures remain minimised.
EPDM FLEXIBLE HOSE
The final part in the intake system before the throttle body is the EPDM hose. This part allows engine movement and guides the airflow from the filter housing to the throttle body and is therefore a critical component. The OEM hose has a large convoluted section across its curved portion. This results in turbulence as the airflow needs to negotiate the curve while simultaneously encountering the ridges. Our design removes the ridges across the curve and places a smaller flexible section in line with the filter housing where the path is straight. This allows adequate flexibility for engine movement without impeding airflow. We also added external ribs to reinforce the structure of the hose.
MACHINED HARDWARE
OEM fitment is maintained through the use of our precision machined components. Our coolant hose holder replicates the factory hose mount and keeps them in the correct positions. By using Delrin we also protect the hoses from sharp corners and potential damage. Our CNC machined MAF sensor mount ensures that it functions to OEM specifications and is kept secure.
The complete system comes together to provide an intake which improves on the stock airbox in performance, aesthetics and sound.
