Your turbo gasket has the job of sealing in all exhaust gases from your engine where your turbo joins to the manifold. Without this, you would experience awful exhaust leaks that would not only cost you in performance but could actually fail your MOT as those harmful gases could creep into the cabin.

When fitting your new turbo gasket, it's essential to check the mating faces for warpages and defects that could lead to exhaust leaks. If any are found, you must have the mating faces resurfaced by a machine shop, which will guarantee the leak-free seal you desire.

Here, you will find a step-by-step guide to successfully installing your new turbo gasket. We highly recommend professional installation if you're not 100% confident in fitting this part yourself.

1. The first step is to prepare your car to work on, ensure the vehicle is switched off, the exhaust is cool, and you have everything you need close to hand.
2. Locate and remove all oil/water lines from the turbo and be ready to catch any excess fluids that may leak out.
3. Unbolt any hardware holding the turbo to the manifold and the turbo to the downpipe section of the exhaust.
4. Remove your turbo from the engine bay, being careful not to damage any components that are close by.
5. Now that your turbo is out of the car, you can check that the mating flanges are free from warpages and defects; if any are found, you must have the mating faces resurfaced by a machine shop.
6. Place the turbo back into location with your new turbo gasket, and hand-tighten any hardware that was previously removed.
7. Tighten all hardware back to the manufacturer's recommended specs using a calibrated torque wrench.
8. You can now re-fit all oil/water lines that you had removed from your turbo.
9. Now that your turbo is installed, you can switch on your engine and let everything come up to operating temperature. Once up to temperature, let the car cool back down, and repeat this one more time.
10. Now that your car has cooled for the final time, go over all the hardware previously removed with a torque wrench to ensure it is still tightened to the manufacturer's recommended specs.
11. It's now time to drive and enjoy your car again and remember to take pictures and tag us @exoracinguk
